Start with the complete station on the drawing

Identify what the supplier actually means by GHD. A complete projecting unit has a hip-support surface and foot-restraint arrangement with a defined relationship between them. A compact ankle roller sold under a similar name may require other equipment and serve a different setup. Do not order a folding station by its name or photograph alone.

Request the rack model and revision, attachment reference, mounting assembly and complete parts list on the same drawing. Include the footplate, pads, adjustment hardware and any separate entry aid required by the instructions. This distinguishes the equipment you will receive from the rack, bench or box used to stage a catalogue photograph.

Approve the host rack before reserving the floor area

The GHD projects away from the upright, so its installation decision belongs to the complete host structure. The KingsBox folding-rig manual expressly requires its supporting rack to be floor anchored. That condition applies to that system; it does not establish an anchor design, load rating or approval for an unrelated rack.

Provide the supplier with the actual floor installation, rack connections and other attachments occupying the same upright. A matching hole diameter is only one interface detail. Do not replace the required installation with stored plates, a homemade bracket or a larger bolt that happens to pass through the holes.

Separate the use envelope from the folding envelope

Draw the unit in its approved working position with the intended pad-to-foot adjustment. Allow for the user's position, entry route and nearby barbell, cable, storage and door movements. Measure from the datum used by the attachment drawing, not from the top of a pad or an assumed rack hole number.

Then add the full sweep between working and stored positions. A beam or pad can pass through space that looks empty in either end position. Ask which parts must be supported, which restraints are released and how the stored assembly is retained. Obtain that sequence from the exact manual rather than copying a folding-rack opening procedure.

Check the way on and off before calling the layout compact

An elevated hip pad needs a practical access arrangement. The KingsBox instructions show an entry aid as part of the setup discussion. Ask the maker to specify a suitable aid and its position for your installation; a wheeled bench, storage shelf or loose stack of plates should not become an improvised step.

Keep the approach usable when the gym is occupied. The space needed to get off the station is not automatically available just because the rack itself fits. If an entry aid has to be moved for another exercise, include its handling and storage in the changeover plan rather than leaving it in a shared walkway.

Does folding the GHD mean the rack itself can fold too?

Only if the equipment maker confirms that complete combination and its changeover sequence. A folding attachment does not approve a folding host rack or guarantee that the two mechanisms clear each other.

Can a rack's published weight rating approve a GHD attachment?

No. Obtain confirmation for the specific projecting assembly, mounting face, installed rack and intended use. The frame's general lifting rating describes a different scope.

Handover includes both positions and every retainer

Have the supplier or installer identify the working-position lock, adjustment retention and storage restraint on the delivered unit. Pin storage and a working lock are different functions. If a label, drawing or part does not agree with the supplied equipment, stop the handover and obtain clarification before using or folding it.

Record the approved configuration and its separate user and added-load limits where applicable. Do not combine them into a rack-wide capacity. Keep the model-specific instructions with the station, and arrange service for damaged pads, movement at a mount or uncertain retention instead of adding a strap to hold the mechanism in place.
